About Valentmedica

About Us

Who we are, how we are paid, and what we will not do

Valentmedica arranges aesthetic, hair, dental and weight-loss treatment in Istanbul for patients travelling from the UK, Europe and further afield. This page sets out who we are and how we work — including the commercial arrangements most medical travel companies do not discuss.

  • Named, registered surgeons
  • Fixed written quotes
  • JCI-accredited hospitals
  • Twelve months of aftercare

Who we are

Valentmedica is a medical travel company based in Istanbul. We assess patients, match them to a surgeon or dentist, arrange the hospital, hotel and transfers, and stay in contact for twelve months afterwards.

What we are not is a clinic. We do not own a hospital and we do not employ the surgeons. We select them, we are accountable to you for that selection, and we will name them before you pay anything — which is the arrangement most patients assume they are getting and frequently are not.

The reason this distinction matters is that a great deal of medical travel is sold by agencies that take a commission to send you to whichever clinic pays the most that month, without ever having assessed you clinically. If you take one thing from this page, make it the habit of asking any company you approach: are you a clinic, an agency, or something else — and who exactly will treat me?

What we actually do

  • Clinical assessment: your photographs, X-rays or blood results are reviewed by the surgeon or dentist who would treat you, before you are quoted.
  • Matching: we refer to surgeons by procedure volume, not by rota. Some procedures — Afro-textured hair transplant, bariatric revision, implant revision — go only to a handful of surgeons we trust with them.
  • Logistics: hospital admission, hotel, every transfer, and a coordinator who speaks English and stays with your case throughout.
  • Documentation: you fly home with an operation note, a discharge summary in English and, where relevant, an implant passport.
  • Aftercare: twelve months of scheduled check-ins, with your surgeon reviewing photographs rather than a coordinator offering reassurance.

What we do and do not do

We are clear about the limits of what we offer, because the gaps are where patients get hurt.

We do not

  • Treat anyone under 18, for any procedure — including ones routinely performed on children in their own healthcare systems.
  • Use permanent or semi-permanent dermal fillers. Only hyaluronic acid, which can be dissolved.
  • Perform jaw repositioning surgery or orthodontics. Where that is what a patient needs, we say so and refer them home.
  • Quote a price before a clinician has assessed the case.
  • Shorten a stay to make a package look cheaper.
  • Sell a treatment we think will not achieve what the patient wants.

We will tell you when the answer is no

A meaningful proportion of enquiries end with us advising against treatment. Iron deficiency behind female hair loss. A bite problem behind a weak chin. Weight not yet stable before body contouring. A gastric balloon at a BMI where it cannot achieve enough. Threads where only a facelift will do. None of these are charged for, and several patients have come back a year later having addressed what we raised.

How we are paid

Valentmedica is paid by the patient, as part of the package price. We do not take commission from hospitals, and we do not accept payment from manufacturers.

This is the part of medical travel least often discussed, and it determines a great deal about the advice you receive. An agency paid a commission by whichever clinic accepts the referral has a financial reason to send you to the clinic paying most, not the surgeon best suited to your case. An agency paid by an implant manufacturer has a reason to recommend that implant.

  • You pay Valentmedica a single package price. Our margin is within it and is the same whichever surgeon we refer you to.
  • We do not take per-referral commission from hospitals or clinics.
  • We do not accept payment from implant, graft or product manufacturers, which is why our pages name several brands rather than one.
  • We have no financial interest in you choosing the more expensive option, and the treatment pages on this site say so where the cheaper option is better.
  • Where a procedure is better done at home — or funded by your own health service, as breast reduction sometimes is — we tell you.

You are welcome to ask any medical travel company how they are paid, and to treat an unclear answer as an answer.

How we choose surgeons and hospitals

Registration, specialist society membership, procedure volume and accreditation — verified, and given to you in writing before you pay a deposit.

  • Turkish Ministry of Health registration, with the number provided to you before any deposit.
  • Specialist society membership — the Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons for aesthetic work, equivalent bodies elsewhere.
  • Procedure volume: we ask how many of the specific operation a surgeon performs monthly, and some procedures go only to surgeons who do them routinely.
  • JCI accreditation for hospitals used for surgery under general anaesthetic, with intensive care on site.
  • The surgeon performs the parts that determine the result — designing a hairline and opening channels personally, which Turkish law requires and budget packages routinely delegate to technicians.
  • Hyaluronidase on site at every clinic that injects hyaluronic acid filler, and histology on all removed tissue as standard.

How we handle complaints

Complaints go to a named person, are answered in writing, and are not routed through the coordinator whose work may be the subject of them.

Medical travel complaints are often difficult precisely because the patient is in another country, the clinic is not the company they paid, and nobody will accept responsibility. Valentmedica is the company you paid, and the complaint comes to us.

  • Clinical concerns: contact your coordinator at any hour. These are escalated to your surgeon the same day, and photographs are reviewed rather than reassurance offered.
  • Complaints about service or about your coordinator: these go to a named manager rather than back to the coordinator. Ask for the escalation contact and you will be given it.
  • Written response: complaints are answered in writing, with what we found and what we are doing about it.
  • Where surgery is at fault: the aftercare terms in your written quote set out what Valentmedica covers, including flights and hospital costs for revision in defined circumstances. Those terms are given to you before you pay, not after a problem.
  • Your records: you are entitled to your operation note, imaging and histology. Ask and we will send them.

If you are considering any medical travel company, ask what happens when something goes wrong and who you would complain to. A company that has not thought about it will tell you so in how they answer.

About Valentmedica: frequently asked questions

Neither exactly. We are a medical travel company: we assess patients clinically before quoting, select and name the surgeon, arrange everything around the treatment and provide aftercare. We do not own the hospitals or employ the surgeons, and we say so rather than implying otherwise.

By the patient, within the package price. We do not take per-referral commission from hospitals, and we do not accept payment from implant or product manufacturers. Our margin is the same whichever surgeon we refer you to.

The surgeon or dentist who would treat you, before you receive a quote. You are told their name. A video consultation can be arranged on request, and you meet them face to face in Istanbul before any treatment.

Yes, and you should. You are given their name and Turkish Ministry of Health registration number before you pay a deposit, specifically so you can verify it.

No. Valentmedica does not treat anyone under 18, including for procedures such as otoplasty that are routinely performed on children in their own healthcare systems. Follow-up matters too much for that to be done abroad.

We tell you, you are not charged, and we explain what would need to change or where to go instead. It happens regularly enough that several pages on this site argue against the treatment they describe.

Because for some treatments the flights cost more than the treatment and it should be arranged at home — botulinum toxin and PRP courses in particular. Writing otherwise would be dishonest.

Your coordinator speaks English and is the same person throughout your case. Consultations with surgeons are conducted in English, with interpretation where needed.

Istanbul, where the treatment takes place. Your coordinator is reachable by WhatsApp at any hour, before and after your trip.

Clinical concerns go to your surgeon the same day. Service complaints go to a named manager rather than back to the coordinator they concern, and are answered in writing. The escalation contact is given to you on request.

They are genuine ranges for 2026, quoted all-inclusive except for flights. A written quote follows a clinical assessment, and the ranges exist because the right plan varies between patients. Where a scan changes the plan, you are told in writing before anything proceeds.

We can put you in touch with patients who have agreed to that, for the specific procedure you are considering. We will not pretend every patient volunteers, and we would be sceptical of a company claiming otherwise.
