A brow lift raises a descended eyebrow and smooths the forehead, opening the eye without removing eyelid skin. At Valentmedica it costs £2,200–£3,400 depending on technique — and the difference between a good result and an obvious one is a few millimetres.
Brow lift patients who travelled to Istanbul with Valentmedica, photographed at three and twelve months with a neutral expression. A brow lift judged on a smiling photograph tells you nothing.
A brow lift repositions the eyebrow and the soft tissue of the forehead upward, correcting the descent that makes the upper lid look hooded and gives the face a tired or stern expression at rest.
The brow descends with age because the forehead tissue loosens and the muscles that pull it down — around the eyes and between the brows — gradually win against the single muscle that lifts it. The result is a brow that sits lower, particularly at the outer third, pushing skin into the upper lid and shortening the distance between brow and lash line.
This matters because a hooded upper lid is frequently a brow problem wearing an eyelid disguise. Removing upper lid skin in a patient whose brow has dropped tethers the brow lower still, which is why the brow position test should come before any blepharoplasty decision.
| Technique | Incisions | Lift achieved | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Endoscopic | 3–5 small, behind the hairline | 2–5 mm, whole brow | Most patients |
| Temporal (lateral) | 2, behind the temporal hairline | 2–4 mm, outer brow only | Outer brow descent |
| Coronal | One across the scalp, ear to ear | 5 mm or more | Heavy brows, rarely used now |
| Direct | Immediately above the brow | Precise, significant | Facial palsy, very heavy brows |
Endoscopic brow lifting is the modern default: small incisions hidden behind the hairline, a camera to work under, and fixation to hold the brow in its new position. The coronal lift that produced reliable results at the cost of a long scar and permanent numbness is now reserved for unusual cases.
A Valentmedica all-inclusive brow lift package in Istanbul costs £2,200–£3,400. The same operation privately in the UK is typically £5,000–£8,000.
| Procedure | Price (GBP) | Hospital nights | Nights in Turkey |
|---|---|---|---|
| Temporal brow lift | £2,200–£2,700 | 1 | 6 |
| Endoscopic brow lift | £2,600–£3,400 | 1 | 7 |
| Brow lift with upper eyelid surgery | £3,200–£4,200 | 1 | 7 |
| Brow lift with facelift | £5,400–£7,200 | 1–2 | 9 |
| Brow lift with fat transfer to the temples | £3,000–£3,900 | 1 | 7 |
Botulinum toxin can raise the outer brow by a millimetre or two by relaxing the muscles that pull it down, and for mild descent that is often enough. It costs a fraction as much, takes ten minutes and wears off in four months. A brow lift is the answer when the descent is structural rather than muscular, or when you are tired of repeating injections indefinitely. Trying the injections first is a sensible way to preview the direction of travel.
Elsewhere you usually pay for the operation alone. A Valentmedica package also includes your hospital stay, hotel, transfers and a personal coordinator.

Indicative figures, not a quote. Bars show the usual range in each market; overseas figures are typically surgeon and facility only. Flights are an estimate for a return economy fare. Your price is confirmed in writing after a clinician has reviewed your case.
The best candidates have genuine brow descent, a brow-to-lash distance that has shortened with age, and an understanding that the change should be subtle.
Our self-check below gives you an honest starting answer, and a Valentmedica plastic surgeon reviews your photographs free of charge before you commit to anything.
Seven nights in Istanbul, with sutures or staples removed before you fly home.
You send photographs taken straight on with a completely neutral expression — brows relaxed, not raised. A plastic surgeon assesses brow position, hairline height and whether eyelid surgery should be combined. You receive a written fixed quote.
Your driver meets you at Istanbul airport and takes you to the hotel.
Blood tests and a consultation where the planned lift is demonstrated with you sitting upright and the incision positions agreed. Surgery the same afternoon, taking one to two hours. You wake with a light head dressing.
The dressing is removed, the forehead checked and you are discharged to the hotel. Swelling is beginning.
Swelling and bruising peak and may spread to the eyes. Head elevated day and night, cold compresses.
Swelling settling, brow position assessed with you sitting upright.
Removed at seven to ten days depending on technique. Your surgeon confirms you are fit to fly.
Fly home with scar care products and written aftercare.
Nurse check-ins at one week, six weeks, three months and twelve months.
The hospital and hotel you will be using, and the specifics you can check before you pay a deposit.
The facility is named to you in writing, with its licence and accreditation numbers, so you can verify it rather than take our word for it. If you would like to see the building, ask: we can usually arrange a visit before you decide.
One to two hours under general anaesthetic or sedation, through small incisions hidden behind the hairline.
Expect ten to fourteen days before you look presentable, and three to six months for the final brow position as swelling resolves and the lift settles slightly.
An endoscopic brow lift is a short, well-tolerated operation with a low complication rate. The risks that matter most are aesthetic — over-lifting and asymmetry — and nerve injury.
Valentmedica works only with JCI-accredited private hospitals in Istanbul and with plastic surgeons registered with the Turkish Ministry of Health who hold Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons membership.
Tell your surgeon if you have had previous forehead surgery, scalp scarring, or any facial nerve weakness. All three change the surgical plan, and the last may be the reason a direct brow lift is chosen instead.
Very commonly with upper eyelid surgery, where the two together address what neither can alone — and with a facelift, where treating the upper face separately would leave it out of step.
A facelift addresses the lower face and neck and does nothing above the eyes. A brow lift addresses the upper third and nothing below. Patients who have one without the other sometimes find the untreated area now looks noticeably older by comparison.
If you are having a blepharoplasty, ask your surgeon to assess your brow at the same consultation. It is the single most useful thing they can check, and it changes the recommendation in a meaningful proportion of cases.
Send photographs with a genuinely relaxed expression, stop smoking, discuss your hairline, and plan a fortnight before you are looked at closely.
A well-judged brow lift lasts eight to twelve years. The result looks too high for the first few weeks and settles into its final position by three to six months.
The aim is a rested rather than lifted appearance — brows that sit where they did ten years ago, a forehead that is not permanently working to hold them up, and a resting expression that matches how you actually feel. Done well, the change is noticeable without being identifiable, and the forehead lines soften because you are no longer compensating.
Judge it at three months with a neutral expression and a straight-on photograph in the same light as your pre-operative one. The brow sits a millimetre or two lower at three months than at three weeks, which is expected and planned for. Ageing continues, and maintaining the result with botulinum toxin to the depressor muscles extends it meaningfully. You can see three and twelve month comparisons in our before and after gallery.
At Valentmedica, £2,200–£2,700 for a temporal lift and £2,600–£3,400 for an endoscopic lift, all-inclusive. That covers the surgeon, anaesthetist, one hospital night, six hotel nights, transfers, suture removal and twelve months of aftercare. Flights are not included.
Lift your eyebrow gently with a finger. If the hooding resolves, your brow has descended and a brow lift addresses the cause. If the skin still hangs, it is genuine lid excess and blepharoplasty is the answer. Many patients need both.
Two to five millimetres. That is the range that looks rested rather than surprised. Anything more is the thing that makes brow surgery recognisable from across a room.
With an endoscopic lift, three to five small incisions sit one to two centimetres behind the hairline where hair covers them completely. If your hairline is high, an incision at the front of the hairline may be preferred, which is more visible initially but settles well.
An endoscopic lift raises it slightly, usually by a few millimetres. If your forehead is already high, say so — a hairline incision lifts the brow without moving the hairline back, and may be the better choice for you.
For mild descent, often enough. Relaxing the muscles that pull the brow down can raise the outer brow a millimetre or two for a fraction of the cost. It wears off in four months. Trying it first is a sensible way to preview the direction before committing to surgery.
Typically eight to twelve years. Ageing continues, but you do not return to your starting point. Maintaining the result with botulinum toxin to the depressor muscles extends it meaningfully.
The sensory nerves behind the incisions are stretched or divided during dissection. Numbness is expected and usually resolves over six to twelve months. Intense itching during recovery is a sign the nerves are regenerating.
Ten to fourteen days to be presentable, three to six weeks for swelling to largely resolve, and three to six months for the final brow position. Bruising often spreads to the eyelids, which surprises patients who expected only forehead swelling.
They soften considerably, both because the skin is redraped and because you stop raising your brows to compensate for the descent. Deep set lines may not vanish entirely, and botulinum toxin afterwards addresses what remains.
Minor asymmetry is common early and usually reflects uneven swelling. Judge at three months. Brows are rarely level to begin with, and a surgeon who makes them perfectly symmetrical can actually produce an unnatural result.
Yes, and it often should be. A facelift treats the lower face and neck and does nothing above the eyes. Combining means one anaesthetic, one recovery and a result where no part of the face looks out of step with the rest.
