How we choose hotels
Four-star hotels within a short drive of the clinic, selected against a list of things that matter to someone recovering and ignored by every hotel rating system.
A five-star hotel forty minutes away is worse for a patient than a four-star hotel ten minutes away. A beautiful room on the fourth floor of a building with one slow lift is worse than an ordinary room near a good one. Hotel stars measure service and facilities; they do not measure whether you can get into the bath after abdominal surgery.
What we actually check
- Distance to the clinic or hospital: ten to twenty-five minutes, so an unscheduled review is not an expedition.
- Lift access and distance from lift to room, which matters more than it sounds in the first days after surgery.
- Bathroom layout: a walk-in shower rather than a step-over bath, grab rails where possible, and somewhere to sit.
- Bed height and firmness: low soft beds are genuinely difficult to get out of after abdominal or body surgery.
- Room service or food available late, because surgery days do not end at a convenient hour.
- Quiet rooms away from lifts, bars and street noise, requested as standard for post-operative patients.
- Reception staff who are used to medical travellers and will not be surprised by a 2 a.m. request for extra pillows.
What is included
A twin room with breakfast for every night your treatment requires, plus all transfers between the hotel and the clinic.
- A twin or double room, your choice
- Breakfast every morning
- A companion at no extra accommodation cost
- All transfers to and from the clinic
- Wifi throughout
- Air conditioning and heating
- Daily housekeeping
- Luggage storage on departure day
- Late check-out on your flight day where possible
- 24-hour reception
The number of nights
Your package includes the nights your treatment clinically requires — three for a hair transplant, six for a breast augmentation, ten for a body lift. Each treatment page states the stay and the reason. If your surgeon extends it for a clinical reason, the extra nights are arranged and covered by us, not billed to you.
Inside our partner hotels
Recovering in a hotel
A few days of your trip are spent in a hotel room feeling rough. These are the things that make it noticeably easier.
- Ask for a quiet room on a lower floor at check-in, before you need it. We request it in advance, but confirming it yourself takes thirty seconds.
- Extra pillows: ask for four. Almost every procedure requires sleeping propped up, and hotel pillows are rarely firm enough on their own.
- Keep water by the bed. Dehydration after surgery is common and getting up to fetch a glass is exactly what you will avoid doing.
- Tell reception you have had surgery. Housekeeping will work around you, and nobody will knock at 9 a.m.
- Use the room service menu rather than going out, at least for the first days. Istanbul is tempting and walking is tiring.
- If you are on a staged post-operative diet, tell your coordinator. Hotels will provide soups, purées and soft food on request.
- Keep the aircon moderate. Very dry air is uncomfortable after any facial or eyelid surgery.
- Your coordinator is reachable by WhatsApp at any hour, and the hotel can reach them too.
Upgrades and extra nights
Everything in your package is included. Anything beyond it is available at cost, with the price agreed in advance.
| Option | Typical cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Extra night, same hotel | £60–£110 | Per night, including breakfast |
| Five-star upgrade | £70–£140 | Per night supplement |
| Suite or larger room | £50–£120 | Per night supplement |
| Second companion | £40–£80 | Per night, extra bed or room |
| Airport hotel for an early flight | £70–£130 | Where your flight is before 7 a.m. |
- Extra nights for a holiday are at cost, booked through your coordinator or directly by you — whichever is cheaper, and we will tell you which.
- Extra nights for a clinical reason are covered by us. If your surgeon extends your stay, you do not pay for it.
- Upgrades are available but rarely necessary. The money is usually better spent on a changeable return flight.
- A second companion can usually be accommodated, but tell us at the booking stage rather than on arrival.
Partner hotels: frequently asked questions
Four-star hotels within ten to twenty-five minutes of the clinic, chosen for lift access, bathroom layout, bed height and quiet rooms rather than for the view. Proximity to the clinic matters more than stars when you are recovering.
Yes, for every night your treatment clinically requires, with breakfast and a twin room as standard. All transfers between the hotel and the clinic are included too.
Yes, at no extra accommodation cost. Packages include a twin room precisely so a companion can stay. They pay only for their flight and their own meals.
Ten to twenty-five minutes, deliberately. When comparing packages anywhere, ask this question — a cheaper package with a hotel an hour away costs you two hours of travel on every appointment day.
If your surgeon extends your stay for a clinical reason, the extra nights are arranged and covered by us. If you choose to stay on for a holiday, extra nights are at cost and we will tell you the price in advance.
Our hotels are chosen for lift access, walk-in showers and reasonable distance from lift to room. If you use a wheelchair or have specific mobility needs, tell your coordinator at the booking stage so the right hotel and room are arranged.
Yes. Tell your coordinator which stage of diet you will be on and the hotel will provide soups, purées and soft food. Do not wait until you arrive hungry and on clear liquids.
Yes, for a supplement of roughly £70–£140 per night. We will arrange it, though we would gently suggest the money is usually better spent on a changeable return flight.
Yes, every morning. Other meals are not, though Istanbul is inexpensive by Western European standards and most of our hotels have a restaurant or room service.
Tell your coordinator. For departures before about 7 a.m. an airport hotel for the final night sometimes makes more sense than a 3 a.m. transfer, and we will price both options.
Yes, and it helps. Our partner hotels are used to medical travellers, so housekeeping works around you, nobody knocks early, and reception will not be surprised by a late request for extra pillows.
You can, but the package price does not reduce, because the hotel is bundled at a rate we cannot separate out usefully. More importantly, the transfers are built around our hotels. Most patients who have tried it regret the logistics.
