A body lift removes the loose skin left after major weight loss, tightening the abdomen, hips, outer thighs and buttocks in one circumferential operation. At Valentmedica it costs £4,200–£6,400. It is the most demanding procedure on this site, and it leaves a scar that goes all the way round.
Body lift patients who travelled to Istanbul with Valentmedica, photographed at six and eighteen months, with scars shown rather than cropped out. Anyone considering this operation deserves to see exactly what the trade-off looks like.
A circumferential lower body lift removes a belt of excess skin and fat right around the torso, tightening the abdomen at the front, the flanks at the sides and the buttocks and outer thighs at the back, all in one operation.
After major weight loss, skin that was stretched for years does not retract. It hangs in aprons at the abdomen, drapes over the hips and flattens the buttocks. A tummy tuck addresses the front only, which often leaves the sides and back looking worse by comparison. A body lift addresses all of it in one continuous excision, which is why the scar runs all the way around.
It is the most extensive procedure Valentmedica offers, and it needs describing honestly. Four to six hours of surgery, two or three nights in hospital, drains, a scar that circles your body, and a recovery measured in months rather than weeks. Patients who have had it almost universally say it was worth it — and almost universally say nobody told them quite how demanding it would be.
A Valentmedica all-inclusive body lift package in Istanbul costs £4,200–£6,400. The same operation privately in the UK is typically £12,000–£20,000.

Patients who have had bariatric surgery are frequently low in protein, iron, B12, vitamin D and zinc — all of which are directly involved in wound healing. A body lift creates an enormous wound, and operating on a nutritionally depleted patient is how you get wound breakdown. Valentmedica checks this before surgery and will defer the operation if the results demand it.
Elsewhere you usually pay for the operation alone. A Valentmedica package also includes your hospital stay, hotel, transfers and a personal coordinator.

Indicative figures, not a quote. Bars show the usual range in each market; overseas figures are typically surgeon and facility only. Flights are an estimate for a return economy fare. Your price is confirmed in writing after a clinician has reviewed your case.
The best candidates have reached a stable weight after major loss, held it for at least six months, have good nutritional status and understand the scars they are accepting.
Our self-check below gives you an honest starting answer, and a Valentmedica plastic surgeon reviews your photographs and blood results free of charge before you commit to anything.
Ten nights in Istanbul — the longest stay we book, because this is the biggest operation and the one where complications most need watching.
You send photographs from all angles, your weight history and recent blood results including protein, iron, B12, vitamin D and zinc. A plastic surgeon assesses what can safely be done in one operation and what should be staged. You receive a written fixed quote.
Your driver meets you at Istanbul airport and takes you to the hotel. Nothing medical today.
Full bloods, ECG, chest X-ray and consultations with your surgeon and the anaesthetist. The markings are planned with you standing, and the extent of excision agreed.
Four to six hours. You are turned during the operation so the back and front can both be addressed. You wake with drains and a compression garment.
Drains monitored, pain controlled, and you will be walking from the first evening. Walking is what prevents clots and after this operation it is not negotiable.
Your surgeon reviews the wounds and discharges you to the hotel, usually still with drains.
Drains removed as output falls, daily coordinator contact, short frequent walks. The hospital is fifteen minutes away.
Wounds inspected along their full length, compression reviewed and your surgeon confirms you are fit to fly.
Fly home with your garment, scar care products and written aftercare.
Nurse check-ins at one week, three weeks, six weeks, three months and twelve months.
The hospital and hotel you will be using, and the specifics you can check before you pay a deposit.
The facility is named to you in writing, with its licence and accreditation numbers, so you can verify it rather than take our word for it. If you would like to see the building, ask: we can usually arrange a visit before you decide.
Four to six hours under general anaesthetic, with you repositioned during the operation so that both the back and the front can be addressed through one continuous excision.
This is a demanding recovery: four to six weeks before a desk job, eight to twelve before full activity, and twelve to eighteen months before the final result. Describe it to yourself honestly before booking.
A body lift is major surgery with the highest complication rate of anything on this site. In the right patient, properly prepared, it is safe — but the margin is narrower than for any other aesthetic procedure.
Valentmedica works only with JCI-accredited private hospitals in Istanbul with intensive care on site, and with plastic surgeons experienced in post-bariatric body contouring. Nutritional screening is mandatory before surgery, and we will defer the operation if the results demand it.
Tell your GP and your bariatric team before you travel. A body lift in a post-bariatric patient is a joint undertaking, and the people managing your nutrition should know what is being planned.
In principle yes, in practice rarely. A body lift is already four to six hours, and adding to it pushes total anaesthetic time into territory most surgeons consider unsafe.
Post-weight-loss patients usually want several areas addressed, and the temptation to do everything in one trip is strong. It is also the single most dangerous decision available in body contouring, because the risks of clots, blood loss and wound problems rise steeply with operating time in exactly the patient group least able to tolerate them.
Valentmedica plans post-weight-loss contouring as a programme rather than an operation. Two trips, sequenced by what matters most to you, with three to six months between them. If a clinic offers you arms, breasts, torso and thighs in one sitting, decline it.
Stabilise your weight, correct your nutrition, stop smoking, arrange help at home and plan for four to six weeks off work.
The change in shape is dramatic and permanent, provided your weight stays stable. The scar is also permanent, runs the full circumference of your torso, and takes two years to mature.
Patient satisfaction after body lift surgery is consistently high in published studies, despite the demanding recovery and the extensive scarring — because for most patients the loose skin was a daily, physical problem rather than an aesthetic preference. Rashes, difficulty with clothing, inability to exercise comfortably and the sense that the weight loss was never finished all resolve at once.
The scar is the trade-off, and it should be shown honestly rather than cropped out of marketing photographs. It sits low enough to be covered by underwear at the front, and runs round the hips and across the back. For the first three months it is raised and red; by twelve months it has flattened considerably; by two years it is a pale line. Silicone gel or tape from week four and strict sun protection make a measurable difference. You can see scars at six and eighteen months in our before and after gallery.
At Valentmedica, £4,200–£6,400 as an all-inclusive package. That covers the surgeon, anaesthetist, two to three nights in a JCI-accredited hospital, nutritional screening, drains, seven hotel nights, all transfers, compression garment and twelve months of aftercare. Flights are not included.
Ten nights — the longest stay we book. Two to three nights in hospital and the rest in the hotel, so drains can be removed and the full length of the wound checked before you fly.
No, and you should decline any clinic that offers it. Addressing torso, arms, breasts and inner thighs together would mean eight or more hours of anaesthetic in a patient group already at raised risk of clots and wound problems. Valentmedica stages it across two trips three to six months apart.
At least six months at a stable weight, ideally twelve, and at least 12 to 18 months after bariatric surgery. Operating before your weight stabilises means loose skin returning.
A continuous line running the full circumference of your torso — low at the front, round the hips and across the back. It is raised and red for about three months, flattens by twelve, and becomes a pale line by two years. It is permanent and it is the trade-off for the result.
Because post-bariatric patients are commonly low in protein, iron, B12, vitamin D and zinc, all of which are directly involved in wound healing. A body lift creates an enormous wound, and operating on a depleted patient is how wound breakdown happens.
Usually, but some degree of healing difficulty affects a substantial minority — typically a small area of separation at a point of tension, managed with dressings over a few weeks. This is a known consequence of a very long incision in post-weight-loss skin, not a sign of a failed operation.
Yes, genuinely. For the first ten to fourteen days you will struggle to get out of bed unaided, carry anything or manage stairs. Arrange someone to stay with you before you book.
A little, but this is a skin operation rather than a fat one. Limited liposuction is used to feather the edges of the excision. If significant fat remains, your surgeon may suggest losing more weight first.
No. A circumferential lift reaches the outer thigh but not the inner. Inner thigh laxity needs a separate thigh lift, usually planned for the second trip.
Four to six weeks for a desk job, often returning part-time at first, and eight to twelve weeks before the gym and heavy lifting. This is considerably more than a tummy tuck.
Published satisfaction rates are high, and most patients describe it as the point at which the weight loss finally felt finished. But it is the most demanding procedure on this site, and we would rather you went into it knowing that than discovered it afterwards.
