Rhinoplasty in Turkey

2026 prices, the techniques explained and an honest recovery guide

Rhinoplasty (a nose job) reshapes the bone and cartilage of the nose to improve its shape, balance it with the rest of your face and, when needed, help you breathe better. With Valentmedica, an all-inclusive rhinoplasty in Turkey costs £2,500–£3,800, compared with £4,000–£7,000 quoted by the NHS for private surgery in the UK, and includes your surgeon, hospital stay, hotel and airport transfers.

What is rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty, often called a nose job, is an operation that reshapes the nose by changing its bone and cartilage. It can remove a hump, refine or lift the tip, narrow the nose, straighten a crooked nose or correct breathing problems. When the septum inside the nose is also straightened to improve breathing, it is called a septorhinoplasty.

The nose sits in the centre of the face, so even small changes can make a big difference to your profile and facial balance. The most common requests are removing a bump on the bridge, refining a wide or drooping tip, straightening a crooked nose after an injury and improving breathing through a blocked nose.

A good rhinoplasty looks natural: the aim is a nose that suits your face and ethnicity, not a copy of someone else's nose. Your surgeon plans the change with you at the consultation, often using photos from the front and side, and explains what is realistic for your skin thickness and nasal structure.

Types of rhinoplasty

  • Closed rhinoplasty: Incisions hidden inside the nostrils
  • Open rhinoplasty: Adds a tiny incision under the tip
  • Septorhinoplasty: Also straightens the septum for breathing

Open rhinoplastyA tiny incision under the tip gives the surgeon full view of the structuresComplex tips, crooked noses and revisions
Ultrasonic (piezo) rhinoplastyBone is shaped with ultrasonic instruments instead of chisels and raspsPrecise bone work with less swelling and bruising in the first week
Preservation rhinoplastyThe natural bridge is kept and lowered as a unit rather than removed and rebuiltSelected noses with a hump and a good, straight bridge
SeptorhinoplastyThe septum is straightened at the same time as the outside is reshapedShape changes together with a blocked nose
Revision rhinoplastyCorrects the result of a previous nose operation, often with cartilage graftsUnsatisfying or problematic previous results

Types of rhinoplasty

  • Closed rhinoplasty: Every incision is inside the nostrils, so nothing shows
  • Open rhinoplasty: Adds one small incision across the columella for a direct view
  • Septorhinoplasty: Straightens the septum at the same time, so breathing improves too

How much does rhinoplasty cost in Turkey?

At Valentmedica, a rhinoplasty in Turkey costs £2,500–£3,800 in 2026 as an all-inclusive package. A closed rhinoplasty sits at the lower end, while open or ultrasonic rhinoplasty and septorhinoplasty cost more. Revision rhinoplasty starts from £3,800 and is priced after an assessment. Your exact price depends on the technique and your length of stay.

What is included in a Valentmedica rhinoplasty package?

  • Online assessment and in-person consultation with your plastic surgeon
  • Pre-operative blood tests and anaesthetist review
  • The operation, anaesthetic and operating theatre
  • Hospital stay with nursing care (1 night)
  • Nasal splint, dressings and take-home medication
  • Hotel accommodation for your recovery
  • VIP airport, hotel and clinic transfers
  • An English-speaking patient coordinator throughout your stay
  • Splint and stitch removal and a check-up before you fly
  • Remote follow-up with your surgeon once you are home

What affects the price?

Your final quote depends on the technique (closed, open, ultrasonic or preservation), whether your breathing also needs correcting, whether cartilage grafts are needed, whether it is a revision, the surgeon's experience, the hospital category and the number of nights you need. Revision rhinoplasty is usually more complex than a first operation, so it is always priced after your surgeon has reviewed your photos and history.

Why is Turkey so popular for rhinoplasty?

Turkey is one of the world's most popular destinations for rhinoplasty because of its lower all-inclusive prices, experienced surgeons who perform nose surgery every week, modern private hospitals, short waiting times and a hotel recovery away from home while the swelling and bruising settle.

Turkey has become one of the world's leading medical travel destinations. According to Turkish industry figures reported in July 2026, the country welcomed around 1.4 million health tourists in 2025, generating over $3 billion in revenue. Rhinoplasty is one of the procedures Turkey is best known for.

  • Value: a complete Valentmedica package usually costs around half of a private rhinoplasty in the UK, including the hotel and transfers.
  • Experience: leading surgeons in Istanbul perform nose surgery every week, including ultrasonic and revision rhinoplasty.
  • Privacy: you spend the week with the splint and the most visible bruising away from home.
  • Speed: consultations can be arranged online within days, and surgery dates are flexible.
  • Access: most UK and European airports have direct flights of around 3–4 hours.

Rhinoplasty is one of the most common cosmetic operations: the American Society of Plastic Surgeons recorded 48,423 nose reshaping procedures in the US in 2024, 2% more than the year before.

Am I a good candidate for rhinoplasty?

You may be a good candidate if your face has finished growing (usually by the late teens), you are in good general health, you do not smoke (or can stop), you have specific changes in mind and realistic expectations, and you want the surgery for yourself rather than to please someone else.

  • You are unhappy with a hump, a wide or drooping tip, or a crooked nose
  • You have difficulty breathing through your nose, especially after an injury
  • Your face has finished growing, usually by the late teens
  • You do not smoke, or you can stop at least 6 weeks before and after surgery
  • You want a natural result that suits your face
  • You can take 1–2 weeks away from work and social plans

Rhinoplasty: fast facts

Rhinoplasty takes about 1.5–3 hours under general anaesthetic, needs one night in hospital and a 7–10 day stay in Turkey, and lets most people return to work after 1–2 weeks. The splint comes off after about 7 days, most bruising fades within 2–3 weeks and the final shape develops over about a year.

How is rhinoplasty performed?

Under general anaesthetic, your surgeon makes incisions inside the nostrils (and a tiny one under the tip for an open rhinoplasty), lifts the skin, reshapes the bone and cartilage by removing, reshaping or adding tissue, straightens the septum if needed, then closes the incisions and places a splint to support the new shape.

  1. Planning: your surgeon examines your nose inside and out, checks your breathing and agrees the planned change with you.
  2. Anaesthesia: a general anaesthetic, given by a specialist anaesthetist.
  3. Incisions: hidden inside the nostrils for a closed rhinoplasty; an open rhinoplasty adds a small incision across the strip of skin between the nostrils.
  4. Reshaping the bridge: a hump is reduced or the bridge is lowered, using ultrasonic instruments or traditional tools, and the nasal bones are narrowed if needed.
  5. Refining the tip: the tip cartilages are reshaped with fine stitches and, if needed, supported with small cartilage grafts, often taken from the septum.
  6. Breathing (if needed): a deviated septum is straightened and enlarged turbinates may be reduced.
  7. Closure: the incisions are closed with fine stitches, and a splint (and sometimes soft internal splints) is placed to protect the new shape.

Rhinoplasty recovery timeline

Expect a blocked nose and swelling for the first week, the splint removed after about 7 days, bruising around the eyes for up to 2–3 weeks and a return to work after 1–2 weeks. Swimming is usually fine after 3 weeks and strenuous exercise after 4–6 weeks. The NHS notes that swelling can take up to 6 months to go completely, and the final shape develops over about a year.

What to expect week by week
WhenWhat to expect
Days 1–3A blocked nose, a dull headache and swelling around the eyes. Keep your head raised and breathe through your mouth.
Week 1Bruising peaks and then begins to fade. The splint and stitches are removed after about 7 days.
Week 2Most people return to work and social plans; any yellow bruising can be covered with make-up.
Weeks 3–6Swimming after about 3 weeks; strenuous exercise after 4–6 weeks when your surgeon agrees. Avoid contact sports for longer.
3 monthsMost swelling has settled and the nose looks natural, although the tip can still feel firm.
6–12 monthsThe last swelling, mainly in the tip, settles and the final shape appears; thicker skin can take longer.

Understanding possible reactions after rhinoplasty

A blocked nose, swelling, bruising around the eyes, a numb or stiff nose tip, small amounts of bloody discharge in the first days and a nose that looks slightly bigger at first are all normal after rhinoplasty. Heavy bleeding that does not stop, increasing pain, fever, or problems with your vision are not normal and need urgent attention.

What is normal

  • Blocked nose: from swelling inside the nose, improving over the first weeks.
  • Bruising and swelling around the eyes: at their peak in the first days and gone within about 2–3 weeks.
  • Small amounts of blood-stained discharge: normal in the first 2–3 days.
  • A numb or stiff tip: the tip can feel firm and numb for several months.
  • Uneven swelling: one side, or the tip, can look swollen for a while, especially in the morning.
  • Emotional ups and downs: it is common to feel unsure while the nose is still swollen; the final result takes months to show.

Rhinoplasty aftercare

Good aftercare means keeping your head raised, not blowing your nose, sneezing through your mouth, keeping the splint dry, using saline sprays as advised, avoiding glasses resting on your nose, strenuous exercise and contact sports until you are cleared, protecting your nose from the sun and attending every check-up.

In Turkey (first 7–10 days)

  • Sleep on your back with your head raised on two or three pillows.
  • Do not blow your nose, and sneeze with your mouth open, as the NHS advises.
  • Keep the splint dry and in place until your surgeon removes it.
  • Use cold compresses around the eyes when advised, never directly on the splint.
  • Clean the nostrils gently and use saline sprays or ointments only as your surgeon instructs.
  • Take your medication as prescribed and avoid aspirin, ibuprofen and supplements that thin the blood unless your surgeon agrees.

At home (weeks 2–12)

  • Avoid resting glasses on the bridge of your nose until your surgeon allows it, often for several weeks; tape them to your forehead or use contact lenses.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 4–6 weeks and contact sports for longer, until your surgeon agrees.
  • Protect your nose from knocks, and from the sun with a high-factor sunscreen.
  • Avoid saunas and very hot baths for the first few weeks, as heat increases swelling.
  • Tape or massage the nose only if your surgeon recommends it.
  • Send progress photos to your coordinator at the agreed intervals so your surgeon can follow your recovery.

Is it safe to have rhinoplasty in Turkey?

Rhinoplasty in Turkey can be as safe as at home when a qualified plastic surgeon experienced in nose surgery performs it in a licensed, accredited hospital, with proper checks, enough time before flying and a clear aftercare plan. Serious complications are rare; the most common issue is a result that needs a small revision.

The NHS lists possible risks including breathing difficulty, damage to the septum, a change in your sense of smell, nosebleeds, bleeding, blood clots and infection. Some people are also unhappy with the shape or notice asymmetry once the swelling settles, which is why careful planning with your surgeon matters so much.

Large studies are reassuring. An analysis of 4,978 rhinoplasty patients, published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal in 2017, found a major complication rate of 0.7%, with bleeding and infection each around 0.2%. A study of 175,842 patients published in JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery in 2016 found that 3.3% had revision surgery within at least three years. And a 2024 meta-analysis of 12 randomised trials found that ultrasonic (piezo) rhinoplasty caused significantly less swelling and bruising in the first week than traditional techniques.

Checklist: how to choose a safe clinic abroad

  • Confirm your surgeon is a board-certified plastic or facial plastic surgeon who performs rhinoplasty every week.
  • Ask to see many before and after photos of the surgeon's own rhinoplasty patients, taken from the side and at least a year after surgery.
  • Check that the hospital is licensed by the Turkish Ministry of Health for international patients, and ask about accreditations.
  • Make sure you meet your surgeon in person before surgery and agree clearly on the planned change.
  • Ask how revisions are handled and what they would cost.
  • Check your travel insurance: standard policies usually do not cover complications from planned surgery, so consider specialist cover.

Can rhinoplasty be combined with other procedures?

Yes. Rhinoplasty is often combined with chin augmentation or jawline contouring for a balanced profile, and sometimes with eyelid surgery, ear surgery or a lip lift, provided your surgeon considers the total operating time safe for you.

The nose and chin together define your profile, so a small chin can make the nose look bigger than it is. Popular combinations include chin and jawline contouring, eyelid surgery, ear surgery and a lip lift.

How to prepare for your rhinoplasty

Stop smoking and nicotine at least 6 weeks before surgery, review your medication and supplements with your surgeon, avoid alcohol for a week before, arrange 1–2 weeks off work, and bring front-opening clothing and lip balm, as you will breathe through your mouth for a few days.

  • Smoking: nicotine reduces blood flow and slows healing. BAAPS advises stopping at least 6 weeks before surgery.
  • Medication: tell your surgeon about everything you take. Aspirin, blood thinners, fish oil, vitamin E and some herbal supplements increase bleeding and may need to be paused.
  • Photos and goals: collect a few photos of noses you like, but be open to your surgeon's advice on what suits your face.
  • Allergies and colds: tell your team if you have hay fever or a cold before travelling; a blocked nose can delay surgery.
  • Packing list: front-opening or button-up tops, lip balm, a travel neck pillow, sunglasses and your regular medication.

Rhinoplasty results and scars

Rhinoplasty results are permanent, although the nose continues to age naturally with the rest of your face. The main change is visible once the splint comes off, but the final shape develops over about a year as the swelling, especially in the tip, slowly settles. A closed rhinoplasty leaves no visible scar; an open rhinoplasty leaves a tiny scar under the tip that usually becomes very hard to see.

Patience is part of rhinoplasty: the nose often looks slightly swollen and upturned at first, and people with thicker skin take longer to see their final result. In a 2024 study of 380 patients, around 90% reported an improvement in how they felt about their nose six months after surgery. You can view real patient outcomes in our before and after gallery.

Rhinoplasty in Turkey: frequently asked questions

At Valentmedica, a rhinoplasty in Turkey costs £2,500–£3,800 in 2026 as an all-inclusive package covering the surgeon, hospital stay, hotel and transfers. Closed rhinoplasty costs less, while open, ultrasonic and septorhinoplasty cost more. Revision rhinoplasty starts from £3,800.

Yes. The NHS quotes £4,000–£7,000 for private rhinoplasty in the UK, and leading London clinics often charge up to £10,000 for the surgery alone. A Valentmedica all-inclusive package in Turkey costs £2,500–£3,800, including accommodation and transfers.

In a closed rhinoplasty, all incisions are inside the nostrils, so there is no visible scar. In an open rhinoplasty, a tiny incision under the tip lets the surgeon see and shape the structures directly, which helps with complex tips, crooked noses and revisions.

Ultrasonic rhinoplasty uses instruments that vibrate at ultrasonic frequencies to shape the bone precisely, instead of chisels and rasps. A 2024 meta-analysis of 12 randomised trials found less swelling and bruising in the first week compared with traditional techniques.

Most patients stay 7 to 10 days. This allows for one night in hospital, removal of the splint and stitches after about a week, and a fit-to-fly check before you travel home.

Most patients describe a blocked nose, pressure and a dull headache rather than sharp pain. It is well controlled with medication and usually improves significantly within the first few days.

You will see the main change when the splint comes off after about a week, but the final shape develops over about a year as the swelling settles. The tip is usually the last area to refine, especially with thicker skin.

Most people return to work after 1 to 2 weeks, once the splint is off and the bruising has faded enough. Strenuous exercise usually waits 4 to 6 weeks, and contact sports longer.

Yes, if the problem is caused by a deviated septum or other structural issues. A septorhinoplasty straightens the septum and reshapes the nose in one operation.

Most surgeons advise not resting glasses on the bridge of your nose for several weeks after surgery. You can tape them to your forehead or wear contact lenses in the meantime; your surgeon will tell you when it is safe.

The NHS advises waiting 7 to 10 days after facial cosmetic surgery before flying. We plan your flight after your splint is removed and your surgeon confirms you are fit to fly.

With Valentmedica you keep direct contact with your coordinator and surgeon after you fly home, so photos and questions can be reviewed quickly. We also recommend that you inform your GP or local doctor about your surgery and seek urgent local care for any emergency.
