Dental Veneers in Turkey

2026 prices, porcelain vs composite, and the truth about "Turkey teeth"

Veneers are thin, tooth-coloured shells bonded to the front of your teeth to change their colour, shape and size for a brighter, more even smile. With Valentmedica, porcelain veneers in Turkey cost £250–£350 per tooth, compared with £800–£2,000 per tooth at private UK practices, with your hotel and airport transfers included and a written plan that shows exactly which teeth get veneers.

What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells of porcelain or composite resin that are bonded to the front surface of the teeth. They change the colour, shape, size or length of teeth and can close small gaps or hide chips and stains. Because a thin layer of enamel is usually removed first, porcelain veneers are an irreversible treatment.

Veneers are one of the most effective ways to transform a smile. They are used for discoloured teeth that do not respond to whitening, chipped or worn teeth, small gaps, slightly crooked or uneven teeth and teeth that look too small or too short. A set of veneers on the upper and lower teeth that show when you smile is often called a Hollywood smile.

The most important thing to understand is that veneers and crowns are different treatments. A veneer covers only the front of the tooth and needs very little tooth to be removed. A crown covers the whole tooth, which has to be filed down on all sides. Many of the problems seen after cheap treatment abroad come from crowns being fitted on healthy teeth where veneers would have been enough.

Types of veneers

Veneer types compared
TypeWhat it isTypical lifespan
Porcelain (e.max) veneersThin ceramic shells made in a dental lab; very natural and stain-resistant10–15+ years with good care
Composite veneersTooth-coloured resin shaped directly on the tooth, usually in one visitAbout 5–7 years; can stain and chip more easily
Minimal-prep veneersVery thin porcelain needing little or no enamel removalSimilar to porcelain, when the teeth are suitable
Zirconia crowns (not veneers)Strong caps covering the whole toothNeeded only for heavily damaged, broken or root-treated teeth

Bonding, veneers and crowns compared

  • Bonding: Composite added to the surface. Almost nothing is removed, and it is reversible
  • Veneer: A 0.3–0.7 mm facing. A thin layer of enamel comes off, and does not come back
  • Crown: 60–70% of the tooth is ground away. The right answer for a damaged tooth, not a healthy one

How much do veneers cost in Turkey?

At Valentmedica, porcelain (e.max) veneers in Turkey cost £250–£350 per tooth and composite veneers £150–£220 per tooth in 2026, with your hotel and airport transfers included. A full smile of 20 porcelain veneers costs £5,000–£7,000. Your exact price depends on the number of teeth, the material and any treatment needed first.

What is included in a Valentmedica veneers package?

  • Online smile assessment and in-person consultation with your cosmetic dentist
  • Dental X-rays and a digital scan of your teeth
  • A digital smile design, so you can see the planned shape and shade before treatment
  • A written plan that states, tooth by tooth, whether you need a veneer or a crown and why
  • Temporary veneers while your final veneers are made
  • Your veneers, fitting and final bite adjustment
  • Hotel accommodation during your treatment
  • VIP airport, hotel and clinic transfers
  • An English-speaking patient coordinator throughout your stay
  • Remote follow-up with your dentist once you are home

What affects the price?

Your final quote depends on the number of teeth, the material (porcelain or composite), whether any teeth need fillings, gum treatment or root canal treatment first, whether some teeth genuinely need crowns instead of veneers, the dentist's experience and the dental laboratory used. Be cautious with packages that quote a fixed price for "20 teeth" before anyone has examined your mouth.

Veneers vs crowns: what are "Turkey teeth"?

"Turkey teeth" is a UK nickname for smiles where healthy teeth were filed down to small stumps and covered with crowns, often sold as "veneers". A veneer removes only a thin layer from the front of the tooth, while preparing a tooth for a crown removes about 63–72% of its visible structure. Good veneer treatment keeps as much healthy tooth as possible.

  • Natural tooth: Healthy enamel on the front
  • Veneer: About 0.3–0.7 mm removed from the front
  • Crown: Tooth reduced on all sides

The problem is real. In a survey of 1,000 UK dentists by the British Dental Association, 86% said they had treated patients for problems after dental treatment abroad, most often after crowns (87%) and implants. Over half said the repairs cost more than £1,000. A 2025 review in the British Dental Journal noted that many so-called veneers in these cases were actually crowns, which means much more aggressive tooth reduction.

Research shows how big the difference is: a study in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry found that preparing a tooth for a veneer removes about 3–30% of its visible structure, while preparing it for a full crown removes about 63–72%. Once enamel has been removed it does not grow back, and heavily reduced teeth are more likely to need root canal treatment later.

Questions to ask any clinic before veneers abroad

  • Will I have veneers or crowns, on which teeth, and why?
  • How much enamel will be removed from each tooth?
  • Which material and which dental laboratory will you use?
  • What guarantee do you give, and who pays for flights and repairs if something goes wrong? (The UK General Dental Council recommends asking this.)
  • Can I see before and after photos of your own patients, including close-ups?

Why do patients choose Turkey for veneers?

Patients choose Turkey for veneers because porcelain veneers cost around a quarter of UK private prices, modern clinics use digital smile design and in-house or nearby labs, treatment can be completed in about a week, and the trip can include a hotel stay and transfers.

Turkey has become one of the world's leading medical and dental travel destinations. According to Turkish industry figures reported in July 2026, the country welcomed around 1.4 million health tourists in 2025, generating over $3 billion in revenue, and cosmetic dentistry is one of the most requested treatments.

  • Value: porcelain veneers cost around a quarter of UK private prices per tooth.
  • Speed: porcelain veneers can be completed in 5–7 days, and composite veneers in 1–3 days.
  • Technology: modern clinics use intraoral scanners, digital smile design and experienced dental laboratories.
  • Private access: in the UK, the NHS notes that veneers are generally only available privately.
  • Access: most UK and European airports have direct flights of around 3–4 hours.

Am I a good candidate for veneers?

You may be a good candidate if your teeth and gums are healthy, you want to change the colour, shape or size of your front teeth, you do not have severe teeth grinding (or will wear a night guard), and you understand that porcelain veneers are a permanent change because a thin layer of enamel is removed.

  • You have stained teeth that do not respond to whitening
  • You have chipped, worn, uneven or slightly gapped front teeth
  • Your gums are healthy, and any decay has been treated
  • You are happy to wear a night guard if you grind your teeth
  • You understand that porcelain veneers are irreversible
  • You can attend dental check-ups every 6–12 months at home

Your veneers journey in Turkey, day by day

Porcelain veneers usually take 5–7 days in Turkey: consultation, X-rays and smile design on day one, tooth preparation and temporary veneers on day two, lab time while you relax, a try-in, and final bonding and bite adjustment before you fly home. Composite veneers can often be completed in 1–3 days.

Dental veneers: fast facts

Porcelain veneers need 2–3 appointments over about 5–7 days in Turkey, usually under local anaesthetic, and last 10–15 years or more with good care. Composite veneers take 1–3 days and last about 5–7 years. There is no recovery time; most people eat normally the same day.

How are porcelain veneers fitted?

Your dentist examines your teeth and plans the new smile digitally, removes a thin layer of enamel from the front of each tooth under local anaesthetic where needed, takes a precise scan, fits temporary veneers, and a few days later bonds the finished porcelain veneers with a strong dental adhesive and adjusts your bite.

  1. Examination: your dentist checks your teeth, gums and bite, and treats any decay or gum problems first.
  2. Smile design: photos and a digital scan are used to plan the shape, length and shade, which you approve before treatment.
  3. Preparation: under local anaesthetic, a thin layer of enamel, usually 0.3–0.7 mm, is removed from the front of each tooth where needed.
  4. Scan and temporaries: a precise scan is sent to the dental laboratory and temporary veneers protect your teeth.
  5. Try-in: the finished veneers are checked for fit, shape and shade before bonding.
  6. Bonding: each veneer is bonded with a strong dental adhesive and hardened with a special light.
  7. Bite check: your bite is adjusted and you receive care instructions and, if you grind your teeth, a night guard.

What to expect after veneers

There is no real recovery time after veneers: most people eat normally the same day. Your gums may feel slightly sore and your teeth a little sensitive to hot and cold for a few days, and it can take a week or two to get used to the new shape when you speak and bite.

Understanding possible reactions after veneers

Mild sensitivity to hot and cold, slightly sore gums and a new feeling when you bite or speak are normal after veneers and settle within days to a couple of weeks. A veneer that comes loose, a sharp edge, persistent pain, a bite that feels high, or swelling of the gums are not normal and should be checked.

What is normal

  • Mild sensitivity: to hot and cold drinks for a few days.
  • Tender gums: around the edges of the veneers in the first days.
  • A new feeling: the teeth may feel slightly bigger or smoother at first.
  • Small changes in speech: some sounds can feel different for a few days while you adjust.

How to look after your veneers

Look after veneers like natural teeth: brush twice a day, clean between your teeth every day, see your dentist every 6–12 months, wear a night guard if you grind your teeth, avoid biting hard objects such as ice, pens or nails, and wear a sports mouthguard for contact sports.

  • Brush twice a day with a soft brush and non-abrasive toothpaste, and clean between your teeth daily.
  • Keep regular check-ups and hygiene appointments, every 6–12 months.
  • Wear a night guard if you grind or clench your teeth; in one study, veneers without a night guard were far more likely to fracture.
  • Avoid biting nails, pens, ice and hard shells, and do not use your teeth as tools.
  • Wear a sports mouthguard for contact sports.
  • Composite veneers can stain, so limit coffee, red wine and smoking, and have them polished regularly.

Are veneers in Turkey safe?

Veneers in Turkey can be safe and long-lasting when an experienced cosmetic dentist plans them carefully, keeps as much healthy tooth as possible, uses quality materials and a good laboratory, and you have a written plan and aftercare. The main risks are sensitivity, chipping or debonding, and, with over-preparation, damage to the nerve of the tooth.

Porcelain veneers have an excellent track record when they are bonded to enamel. A 2012 systematic review found that feldspathic porcelain veneers had a survival rate of about 95.6% at 10 years, and a 2025 review found survival of 99% when bonded to enamel compared with 91% when bonded to the inner dentine layer, which is one more reason to remove as little enamel as possible. A 10-year study found an annual failure rate of 1.2% for ceramic veneers and 4.1% for composite veneers.

Teeth grinding is the biggest risk to veneers. In one clinical study, veneers were almost three times more likely to come off in patients who grind their teeth, and only 1 of 89 veneers fractured in patients who wore a night guard, compared with 7 of 81 in those who did not.

Checklist: how to choose a safe clinic abroad

  • Your dentist examines your teeth and X-rays before committing to a number of veneers.
  • The plan states tooth by tooth whether you get a veneer or a crown, and why.
  • Any decay or gum disease is treated before veneers are fitted.
  • The clinic names the veneer material and dental laboratory.
  • You see close-up before and after photos of the clinic's own patients.
  • You receive a written guarantee and copies of your records to take home.

Veneers, whitening, crowns or a Hollywood smile: which is right for you?

Whitening suits healthy teeth that are only discoloured; veneers change colour and shape; crowns are for heavily damaged or root-treated teeth; and a Hollywood smile is a full set of veneers on the teeth that show when you smile. Veneers are often combined with whitening of the remaining teeth or gum contouring.

If a front tooth is missing, a dental implant may be needed before your smile makeover, and gum contouring can even out a gummy or uneven gum line.

How to prepare for veneers in Turkey

Have a dental check-up and treat any decay or gum problems before you travel, bring recent X-rays if you have them, think about the shade and shape you want (very bright white is not right for everyone), and plan 5–7 days in Turkey for porcelain veneers.

  • Check-up: see your dentist for a check-up and hygiene appointment, and bring any recent X-rays.
  • Shade: a natural white that suits your skin tone and the whites of your eyes usually looks best; your dentist will show you shade options.
  • Photos: collect a few smiles you like, and let your dentist advise what suits your face.
  • Grinding: tell your dentist if you grind or clench your teeth; you will need a night guard.
  • Timing: plan at least 5–7 days in Turkey for porcelain veneers, and avoid booking important events for the first few days after.

Dental veneers results

Veneers give an immediate result: your new smile is visible as soon as they are bonded. Porcelain veneers keep their colour and last 10–15 years or more with good care, after which they may need replacing. Because enamel is removed, porcelain veneers are a lifelong commitment.

A well-designed smile looks natural: the shape, length and shade suit your face, and the veneers blend with the teeth around them. Porcelain veneers do not stain like natural teeth, while composite veneers need occasional polishing. Plan for eventual replacement, and keep regular check-ups at home. Dental Veneers in Turkey: frequently asked questions

At Valentmedica, porcelain (e.max) veneers in Turkey cost £250–£350 per tooth and composite veneers £150–£220 per tooth in 2026, with hotel and transfers included. A full smile of 20 porcelain veneers costs £5,000–£7,000.

Yes. At private UK practices, porcelain veneers usually cost £800–£2,000 per tooth. In Turkey, Valentmedica porcelain veneers cost £250–£350 per tooth, so a set of 10 veneers costs around £2,500–£3,500 instead of £8,000–£20,000.

"Turkey teeth" is a UK nickname for smiles where healthy teeth were filed down and covered with crowns, often marketed as veneers. Real veneers cover only the front of the tooth and remove much less tooth structure. Always ask whether you are getting veneers or crowns, and why.

For porcelain veneers, a thin layer of enamel, usually 0.3–0.7 mm, is removed from the front of the tooth. For crowns, the tooth is filed down on all sides, removing around 63–72% of its visible structure. Composite and minimal-prep veneers need little or no preparation.

It depends on how many teeth show when you smile. Many people choose 8–10 veneers on the upper teeth; a full Hollywood smile usually covers 16–20 teeth on the upper and lower arches. Your dentist will recommend the number after an examination.

Porcelain veneers look more natural, resist stains and last longer, typically 10–15 years or more. Composite veneers cost less and need little preparation, but last about 5–7 years and can stain or chip more easily.

Porcelain veneers usually take 5–7 days, with 2–3 appointments. Composite veneers can often be completed in 1–3 days.

Preparation is done under local anaesthetic, so most people feel little during treatment. Afterwards, some people have mild sensitivity or tender gums for a few days.

Porcelain veneers typically last 10–15 years or more with good care; a 2012 review found about 95.6% survival at 10 years. Composite veneers last about 5–7 years. Wearing a night guard if you grind your teeth helps them last longer.

No. Veneers do not respond to whitening, so if you also want whiter natural teeth, whiten them before your veneers are made so the shades can be matched.

NHS England will treat pain and infection, but it will not usually replace or repair private cosmetic treatment done abroad. That is why a written plan, a guarantee and follow-up from your clinic matter.

With Valentmedica you keep direct contact with your coordinator and dentist after you fly home, so photos and questions can be reviewed quickly. For urgent pain or swelling, see a local dentist and send us their findings.
