A thigh lift (thighplasty) removes loose, sagging skin and excess fat from the inner or outer thighs for a firmer, smoother leg shape, often after major weight loss. With Valentmedica, an all-inclusive thigh lift in Turkey costs £2,500–£4,000, compared with £7,500–£10,000 for the surgery alone at private UK clinics, and includes your surgeon, hospital stay, hotel and airport transfers.

A thigh lift, or thighplasty, is an operation that removes excess skin and fat from the thighs and tightens the remaining tissue. An inner (medial) thigh lift treats loose skin on the inside of the thighs, while an outer thigh lift treats sagging on the outside and hips. It leaves a scar in the groin crease and, for larger lifts, along the inner thigh.
Loose thigh skin is very common after major weight loss, including after weight-loss surgery, and with age. The inner thighs are particularly affected, because the skin there is thin and stretches easily. Exercise can tone the muscles and diet can reduce fat, but neither can tighten skin that has lost its elasticity, which can cause chafing, skin irritation and difficulty finding clothes that fit.
A thigh lift removes the excess skin surgically, and liposuction is often added to remove fat and improve the shape. The trade-off is a permanent scar, so the technique is chosen to match the amount of loose skin with the shortest scar that will do the job.
| Technique | Scar | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Mini inner thigh lift | Hidden in the groin crease | Mild looseness in the upper third of the inner thigh |
| Inner thigh lift with vertical incision | Groin crease plus a line down the inner thigh towards the knee | Moderate to severe loose skin along the whole inner thigh, often after weight loss |
| Outer thigh lift | From the groin around the hip, hidden under underwear | Sagging on the outer thighs and hips |
| Liposuction only | Tiny entry points | Excess fat with good skin elasticity |
At Valentmedica, a thigh lift in Turkey costs £2,500–£4,000 in 2026 as an all-inclusive package. A mini inner thigh lift sits at the lower end, while a thigh lift with a vertical incision, liposuction or an outer thigh lift costs more. Your exact price depends on the amount of loose skin, the technique and your length of stay.
| Procedure | Price (GBP) | Hospital nights |
|---|---|---|
| Mini inner thigh lift (groin scar) | £2,500–£3,000 | 1 |
| Inner thigh lift with vertical incision | £2,900–£3,500 | 1–2 |
| Inner thigh lift + liposuction | £3,200–£3,800 | 1–2 |
| Outer thigh lift | £3,500–£4,000 | 2 |
Prices are for 2026 and include surgery, hospital stay, hotel and transfers. US dollar and euro prices vary with exchange rates. Your exact price is confirmed in writing after your online assessment.
Your final quote depends on the amount of loose skin, whether you need a vertical incision or an outer thigh lift, whether you add liposuction or combine the thigh lift with another operation such as an arm lift, the surgeon's experience, the hospital category and the number of nights you need. Compare what is written in each quote, including garments and blood-clot prevention, not just the headline figure.
Elsewhere you usually pay for the operation alone. A Valentmedica package also includes your hospital stay, hotel, transfers and a personal coordinator.

Patients choose Turkey for a much lower all-inclusive price, experienced body-contouring surgeons who regularly treat patients after weight loss, modern private hospitals, short waiting times and the chance to plan several body-contouring operations with one team.
Turkey has become one of the world's leading medical travel destinations. According to Turkish industry figures reported in July 2026, the country welcomed around 1.4 million health tourists in 2025, generating over $3 billion in revenue. Body contouring after weight loss is one of the most requested aesthetic categories.
Thigh lifts are a specialised operation: the American Society of Plastic Surgeons recorded 9,914 thigh lifts in the US in 2024, 3% more than the year before.
You may be a good candidate if you have loose, sagging skin on your thighs, your weight has been stable for at least 6 to 12 months, you are in good general health, you do not smoke (or can stop) and you are comfortable accepting a scar in exchange for a firmer, smoother thigh.
Most patients stay in Turkey for 7 to 10 days: arrival and consultation on day one, surgery on day two, one or two nights in hospital, then hotel recovery with check-ups, drain removal and dressing changes until your surgeon clears you to fly.
Send photos of your thighs from the front, back and sides, and your medical history. A plastic surgeon reviews your case and you receive a personal plan and written quote.
Your driver meets you at the airport. You meet your surgeon, who marks the planned scar while you stand, and you complete your blood tests and anaesthetist review.
The operation takes about 2–4 hours under general anaesthetic. You wake up with dressings, compression garments and usually small drains.
Nurses help you walk early to support your circulation. Your surgeon checks your wounds before you move to the hotel.
Walk little and often, keep your legs slightly apart when resting and go to your check-ups. Drains are usually removed during this time.
Once your surgeon confirms you are fit to fly, you head home with your garments and aftercare plan.
Share progress photos and questions with your coordinator and surgeon. We recommend telling your GP or doctor about your surgery.

A thigh lift takes about 2–4 hours under general anaesthetic, needs one or two nights in hospital and a 7–10 day stay in Turkey, and lets most people return to desk work after 2–3 weeks. Heavy lifting and running wait for 6–8 weeks. The final result shows after 6–12 months, while the scars keep maturing for up to 2 years.

Your surgeon marks the loose skin while you stand, often removes fat with liposuction, then makes an incision in the groin crease (and along the inner thigh for larger lifts), removes the excess skin and fat, anchors the deeper tissue to a firm layer near the groin so the scar does not drift, and closes the wound in layers.
Expect swelling, bruising and tightness for 2–3 weeks, drains removed within the first 1–2 weeks, a return to desk work after 2–3 weeks and no heavy lifting or running for 6–8 weeks. Swelling in the legs can last for a few months, the final result shows after 6–12 months and the scars keep maturing for up to 2 years.
| When | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Days 1–3 | Tightness and soreness in the thighs and groin, controlled with medication. You walk short distances with help. |
| Week 1 | Walking becomes easier. Avoid spreading your legs wide or sitting for long periods; lie down or walk instead. |
| Weeks 1–2 | Drains are removed. Most people fly home around days 7–10. |
| Weeks 2–3 | Most people return to desk work and can drive again. Keep wearing your garments day and night. |
| Weeks 4–6 | Bruising has gone and swelling keeps improving. Light exercise such as walking and cycling on a stationary bike, when your surgeon agrees. |
| Weeks 6–8 | Most people can return to heavy lifting, running and full exercise. |
| 6–12 months | The final thigh shape is visible. The scars fade from pink to pale and keep improving for up to 2 years. |
Swelling, bruising, tightness in the groin, swelling of the lower legs and ankles, numbness on the inner thighs and small areas of slow healing along the scar are common after a thigh lift. Increasing pain, fever, a wound that opens widely, a swelling that keeps growing, or a painful, swollen calf or shortness of breath are not normal and need urgent attention.
Good aftercare means walking little and often, wearing your compression garments day and night, avoiding spreading your legs wide or sitting for long periods in the first weeks, keeping the groin wounds clean and dry, taking any blood-clot prevention as prescribed, not smoking, protecting your scars from the sun and attending every check-up.
A thigh lift in Turkey can be as safe as at home when a qualified plastic surgeon performs it in a licensed, accredited hospital, with proper checks, blood-clot prevention, enough time before flying and a clear aftercare plan. Serious complications are uncommon, but minor wound-healing problems are more common than after most other body operations.
Because the groin is a moist area that moves with every step, thigh lift scars are under more strain than most. The most common problems are small wound openings, fluid collection (seroma), infection and scar widening or moving downwards. Less common risks include lymphoedema (long-lasting leg swelling), distortion of the genital area, asymmetry and blood clots.
It is important to know the numbers. A literature review in the Journal of Cutaneous and Aesthetic Surgery covering 16 studies and 447 patients, most of them after major weight loss, found at least one complication in 42.7% of patients. Most were minor: wound breakdown in 18.3%, seroma in 8.1%, infection in about 5% and scar migration in 3.6%, with no blood clots reported. A 2025 review of 19 studies and 1,113 patients, published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine, found that adding liposuction halved the complication rate (36.8% vs 70.7%), which is one reason many surgeons combine the two.
A thigh lift is often combined with liposuction of the thighs, and sometimes with an arm lift. Larger combinations after major weight loss, such as a thigh lift with a tummy tuck or body lift, are usually done in stages a few months apart, because long combined operations carry a higher risk.
After major weight loss, loose skin often affects several areas. A common plan is a tummy tuck or body lift first, followed by a thigh lift and an arm lift a few months later. Your surgeon will plan the order and timing with you.

Keep your weight stable, stop smoking and nicotine at least 6 weeks before surgery, review your medication and supplements with your surgeon, arrange 2–3 weeks off work and help at home, and pack loose, comfortable clothing.
A thigh lift gives firmer, smoother thighs straight away, with the final shape visible after 6–12 months. The result is long-lasting if your weight stays stable. The scars are permanent but placed in the groin crease and on the inner thigh, and they fade and flatten over 1–2 years.
Most patients notice right away that their clothes fit better and that chafing stops. Swelling in the legs hides the final shape for a few months. Ageing and weight changes can loosen the skin again over time, but a stable weight helps your result last for many years. The scars are the main trade-off: they are placed where they are least visible, and with good healing and sun protection they usually fade to pale lines. At Valentmedica, a thigh lift in Turkey costs £2,500–£4,000 in 2026 as an all-inclusive package covering the surgeon, hospital stay, hotel and transfers. A mini inner thigh lift costs less, while a vertical inner thigh lift with liposuction or an outer thigh lift costs more.
Yes. At private UK clinics a thigh lift usually costs £7,500–£10,000 for the surgery alone. A Valentmedica all-inclusive package in Turkey costs £2,500–£4,000, including accommodation and transfers.
An inner (medial) thigh lift removes loose skin on the inside of the thighs through a scar in the groin crease, sometimes extended down the inner thigh. An outer thigh lift treats sagging on the outside of the thighs and hips through a scar that runs from the groin around the hip.
Most patients stay 7 to 10 days. This allows for one or two nights in hospital, check-ups, drain removal and a fit-to-fly check before you travel home.
A thigh lift always leaves a scar. For a mini lift it is hidden in the groin crease; for larger lifts it continues down the inner thigh, where it is visible in shorts or swimwear. Scars fade over 1 to 2 years.
Most patients describe tightness and soreness, especially in the groin when walking, rather than sharp pain. It is well controlled with medication and improves significantly within the first one to two weeks.
You can sit for short periods from the first days, but most surgeons advise avoiding long periods of sitting and spreading your legs wide for the first 2–3 weeks. Your surgeon will give you specific advice.
Most people return to desk work after 2 to 3 weeks. Heavy lifting, running and full exercise usually wait for 6 to 8 weeks, until your surgeon agrees.
Most surgeons recommend waiting until your weight has been stable for at least 6 to 12 months, which is usually 12 to 18 months after weight-loss surgery. Your blood tests and nutrition should also be in good shape to support healing.
The removed skin and fat do not come back, so the result is long-lasting. Ageing and weight changes can loosen the skin again over time, so keeping a stable weight is the best way to protect your result.
Most surgeons advise waiting at least 7 to 10 days after a thigh lift, because flying soon after an operation increases the risk of blood clots. Your surgeon will confirm when you are fit to fly.
With Valentmedica you keep direct contact with your coordinator and surgeon after you fly home, so photos and questions can be reviewed quickly. We also recommend that you inform your GP or local doctor about your surgery and seek urgent local care for any emergency.
