Aesthetic Surgery Results

Face, breast and body results, with the technique and time point for every case

Drag each picture to compare. Below the gallery: what each procedure actually changes, how long before a result is worth judging, and how to read a comparison photograph.

  • Time point stated for every case
  • Same light, angle and distance
  • Shared with written consent
Rhinoplasty final result
12–18 months
Tip swelling settles last
Facelift final result
6–12 months
Scars mature over 18
Breast implants settled
6–9 months
Position drops over time
Body contouring
6–12 months
With stable weight

What each procedure actually changes

Written as what will and will not be different, because the gap between those two is where disappointment lives.

Rhinoplasty

  • Changes: dorsal hump, tip projection and rotation, nostril width, deviation, and breathing where a septal correction is included.
  • Does not change: your underlying facial proportions, skin thickness, or how your nose photographs from every angle. Thick skin limits definition permanently, and no technique overcomes it.
  • Timeline: presentable at 2–3 weeks, 80% at month three, final at 12–18 months. Tip refinement is the last thing to appear.

Facelift and neck lift

  • Changes: jawline definition, jowling, neck laxity and the mid-face in a deep plane procedure. Most people are told they look rested rather than operated on.
  • Does not change: skin quality, texture, pigmentation or fine lines. A facelift repositions tissue; it does not resurface skin, and expecting it to is the commonest mismatch in facial surgery.
  • Timeline: presentable at 2–3 weeks, convincing at 6–8 weeks, final at 6–12 months with scars maturing over 18.

Breast surgery

  • Changes: volume with augmentation, position with a lift, size and symptoms with a reduction. A lift and an implant do different things and are frequently confused.
  • Does not change: skin quality, stretch marks, or the fact that implants are not lifetime devices. Augmentation alone will not lift a breast that has descended.
  • Timeline: implants sit high for 6–12 weeks and drop into position over 3–6 months. Final shape at 6–9 months.

Body contouring

  • Changes: contour, skin excess, muscle separation after pregnancy, and localised fat that does not respond to training.
  • Does not change: your weight in any meaningful way, cellulite, or skin quality. It is a contouring operation, not a weight-loss one, and a result lasts only as long as weight is stable.
  • Timeline: swelling masks the result for 6–8 weeks, 80% at month three, final at 6–12 months.

Non-surgical treatment

  • Changes: dynamic lines with toxin, volume with filler, hydration and texture with boosters — all temporarily.
  • Does not change: laxity. Filler used to compensate for sagging is why some faces look heavy rather than younger, and it is the most common error in this category.
  • Timeline: toxin at days 3–14 lasting 3–4 months; filler immediate, settling over 2 weeks, lasting 6–18 months.

When a result is actually a result

Almost all unnecessary distress after aesthetic surgery comes from assessing an outcome that does not exist yet.

Normal things that worry people

  • Asymmetry in the early weeks. Sides swell and settle at different rates and almost always converge.
  • Numbness around incisions, improving over months rather than weeks.
  • A result that looks overdone at week two. Swelling exaggerates everything, particularly in the face.
  • Firm, raised scars at 6–12 weeks. Scars get worse before they get better and mature over 12–18 months.
  • Feeling low around day five to ten. Common, passes, still worth mentioning.

How to read a before-and-after photograph

None of the following is faking. All of it is routine, and all of it moves an apparent result more than you would expect.

What changes between the two photographs

  • Lighting. Flat frontal light erases the shadows that read as ageing. The same face under overhead light looks ten years older.
  • Posture. Chin forward and down in the "before", level and slightly up in the "after", changes jawline and neck entirely.
  • Camera distance. Closer exaggerates the nose and flattens the face; a step back does the opposite. Many nose "results" are partly focal length.
  • Weight. A body "after" taken five kilograms lighter is showing you two interventions and crediting one.
  • Makeup, tan, hair and clothing. Rarely matched, and each one moves the comparison.
  • Expression. A neutral "before" against a slight smile in the "after" changes the entire mid-face.

What a trustworthy comparison has

  1. Identical lighting, distance, lens, background and expression.
  2. No makeup in either, or the same in both.
  3. A stated time point, and ideally a series rather than a single pair.
  4. Multiple angles — profile and three-quarter for faces, several for bodies.
  5. Weight stated for body surgery.
  6. At least one case the surgeon describes as average rather than their best.

Aesthetic results: frequently asked questions

Yes — during the free consultation, before any deposit. They are chosen to match your starting point rather than to impress, which makes them more useful anyway.

Rhinoplasty 12–18 months, facelift 6–12, breast surgery 6–9, body contouring 6–12. Judging any of them at six weeks is judging swelling.

No. It repositions tissue and tightens laxity; it does not change texture, pigmentation or fine lines. Expecting resurfacing from a lift is the most common mismatch in facial surgery.

Not meaningfully. An implant adds volume; a lift changes position. If the breast has descended, augmentation alone will make it heavier rather than higher.

No. It is a contouring operation, not a weight-loss one, and the result lasts only as long as your weight is stable. Anyone selling it as weight loss is misleading you.

Swelling exaggerates everything, particularly in the face. It is the single commonest reason people panic early, and it almost always settles into something far more subtle.

Usually not in the early weeks — sides swell and settle at different rates and almost always converge. If it persists past month four, send photographs and the surgeon will review it.

Identical lighting, distance, lens and expression; no makeup in either or the same in both; a stated time point; multiple angles; weight stated for body surgery; and at least one average case shown.

No. They fade and flatten over 12–18 months but remain. What a good surgeon controls is placement, not absence, and any page implying otherwise is selling.

Yes, and it is genuinely useful — it shows the surgeon what you are asking for. What it cannot do is transfer someone else’s anatomy onto yours.
